I was lucky enough to get an invite to this years IFTA awards in the amazing Dublin Convention Centre – one catch – I had less than a WEEK to get kitted and preened.
The pressure was ON!
Thankfully I was put in contact with the LOVELY Sheila Cahill of the Ivory Closet, Limerick who saved my ass!
The Ivory closet is based in Limerick and boasts a HUGE selection of dresses for hire for all occasions with labels such as Rachel Gilbert, DVF, Matthew Williamson and Herve Leger – to name just a handful.
The Dress Hire store is the brainchild of Limerick sister’s Sheila, Aine and Niamh and is not only making its mark in Munster, but their service is available all over Ireland and their dresses are a sure guest at any Black tie event in Dublin!
These girls are taking the Dress rental industry in Ireland by storm and just in their first year have built a reputation based on personal service, trend awareness and attention to detail. This can be seen by their constant communication with clients through their Facebook and Twitter pages – posting images of new stock and celebs wearing the latest designs due in store.
I can see that these sisters eat, sleep and breathe fashion – so I wish them every success in the future and if you haven’t already friended them online – do it. NOW!
For the event I wore this AMAZING Rachel Gilbert dress.
Oh yes… Dig out your Ponchos, dust of your Cowboy boots – the Western Trend is back!!!
I know what you’re thinking -“‘How do I wear this trend without looking like I have stepped off the set of ‘Wild Wild West’?”, but the key to this micro trend is detailing and texture – not head-to-toe Daisy Duke!
Let’s start with the denim shirt – not so scary – a staple piece in a lot of wardrobes. This basic shirt is now taking on new branches with stud detailing, tipped collars and South American influence embroideries – a la Isabel Marant’s yoked cowgirl shirt. Kate Bosworth teamed the Marant shirt with denim cut offs for a casual, sexy look for this year’s Coachella Festival.
Check out Zara’s take of the trend with this cute horse print shirt with contrast yoke detailing on the shoulders, €39.95 in store now.
Feeling a little braver? Ankle boots are a key item for this AW12 and Topshop’s range of Cowboy boots are set to excite even the most timid of dressers!!
This trend also has a sweet and playful aspect with the use of colours and Aztec prints. See the beautiful Whitney Port below sporting these cute Navajo shorts and Beyonce in funky printed boots and matching circular bag.
So whether it be a blanket poncho, fringed leather jacket or the customary cowboy hat, be sure to have fun with this trend when incorporating it into your wardrobe.
