Split ends? Not any more! Product exclusive inside!

As you can all see Andrea and I are both blondes, alas Andrea is a natural blonde and I spend a fortune on highlights and haircare products to keep it looking blonde – not brassy, Silky – Not frizzy, Help it grow – no extensions please! But LUCKILY a year ago I found the most amazing hair care product on the market! This is

Schwarzkopf Bonacure Repair Rescue – Sealed Ends

I swear by this product. It is €19.99 in Terrisales, which really is a steal considering it helps my hair look silky, I rarely even need to straighten my hair after putting this in the ends and brushing it through! You only need a pea sized amount so it lasts around 4 months! I have only bought 3 in the past year and my third is still going!

Most importantly, my hair has started growing for the first time in 6 years – since I started bleaching it! My hair was shoulder length for the past 6 years as I had it trimmed regularly, it is now right down my back and I have only had it trimmed twice this year and still no split ends!

If you bleach your hair or are prone to split ends – buy this product! You will not regret it ladies!

Anyone else out there tried this or discovered a better or cheaper alternative!?

I have found the miracle cure for cellulite… And at a fraction of the price of other treatments!

So we all have it, as much as we would like to deny it. I have never met a single girl who isn’t unbelievably self conscious of their cellulite… But what is it, exactly? WHY do we have it and WHY don’t men get it? Well the simple answer is because we ladies got the raw deal when we were handed out the hormones, but I won’t even get into that!

Basically cellulite happens when tiny little pockets of fat and toxins lay just beneath the surface of the skin. There’s very little you can do about it, but there are a few things that do help reduce the appearance of cellulite, such as drinking two litres of water a day, cutting down on sugar and salt and carbs in general and dry body brushing… All of which I have done in the past but to no avail… Until now!

I recently tried this lovely anti-cellulite gel from the Spa Fit Range at The Body Shop, simply called “Toning Concentrate”. Image

I love the texture of the gel and I loved how it felt on my skin, it is cooling and tingles the skin slightly and while I noticed a difference, it was somewhat slight. I knew I had to put more effort in as I spotted a truly fabulous dress that I knew I just HAD to have for New Years Eve (in case you’re wondering, I DID get it and I will do a “what I wore” blog on it soon!) and while I hate body brushing because it hurts my skin and I’m always FAR too lazy (and usually too cold) to do it before my shower I decided I would head back to The Body Shop and invest in (yet another) body brush but when I got there I discovered an amazing new-fangled massager that is part of the Spa Fit range along with a brilliant information leaflet that shows the exact massage movements that you should use to help rid yourself of cellulite. Having studied body therapy in college (not that you would know by looking at me! I am very much a “do as I say, not as I do” type of person, due to sheer laziness) I was very impressed with how simplified they made the information but I had no doubt it was effective. And here is the amazing Spa Fit Massager!

Spa Fit Massager

At only €10.50 I decided it was a steal, seeing as I am just so over using the body brush! And let me tell you all, it was well worth every penny and if not more! This is officially my favourite beauty product at the moment. After a mere two uses I noticed an incredible difference. Unfortunately I didn’t think to take a picture of my thighs and bum before using it – and even if I had have done so, I don’t imagine my vanity would have allowed me to post it on the internet for all to see – But it would seem that the massager literally breaks down the larger pockets of fat and disperses them more evenly throughout the skin. The terrible dimple effect that I once had was starting to lessen with every use.

My laziness towards body brushing has also disappeared because I introduced the massager into my every day routine very simply, rather than keeping it in the shower and usually forgetting to use it before getting in the shower I keep the massager and the toning gel on my bedside locker, when I get out of the shower I dry my skin, use the massager and then rub in the gel and I use it on my bum, thighs, stomach and my arms. Rather than vigorously digging the massager into the skin, the way I would when body brushing I firmly massage the skin with the massager in one hand and feed the skin into the massager with the other, to ensure thorough massaging and I always go in circular motions and always up towards the heart. Once you see results like I have seen, you will no longer get lazy and make sure your cellulite is banished forever.

Unfortunately my toning concentrate ran out recently and I spent a week without using it and I definitely noticed that the skin looks less smooth using the massager on it’s own, so although I admit that the massager gets rid of the larger pockets of cellulite, the toning concentrate definitely refines and tightens the skin and so I hotfooted back to The Body Shop where I took pictures of the entire range to share with you all!

Spa Fit Body Scrub

I also purchased the body scrub, as I usually use the delicious mango body scrub from The Body Shop but decided I might as well go all out as I love the range so much. Fingers crossed I notice improvement twice as fast!

And here is the entire range. As you can see there is also an invigorating massage oil as part of the range, you would not need to purchase both the oil and the toning concentrate and while I deliberated between the two for a while, I decided to stick to what I know works for me, and that is the toning concentrate, despite the fact that it is more expensive. Another huge reason I chose the gel over the oil is because the gel dries into the skin SO quickly, which I prefer as I have oily skin and I don’t like my skin feeling too greasy. That said, I am sure the massage oil works as well as the rest of the range.

Spa Fit The Body Shop

The Spa Fit range retails in Ireland at the following prices:
Massager €10.50

Body Scrub €24.95

Toning Concentrate €30.50

Massage Oil €25.50

I know there are cheaper products on the market that aim to target cellulite but really this is the first range I have used that REALLY works and I could not put a price on how confident I felt on New Years Eve in my little gold sparkly dress and no need for the 80 denier tights! Thank You, The Body Shop!

If anybody out there has tried this range out before, PLEASE let me know how you found it and also if you have found another alternative at a lower or higher price range, I would love to hear your stories!

A little bit of Halloween fun!

So this Halloween, we here at Angeallthatjazz went to the absolutely BRILLIANT Pumpkin Festival in Virginia, Co. Cavan! We had such an amazing night with SO many of our hilarious friends!

Here is a photo of us on the way to the festival, in all of our scariest glory!

L – R

Ange – Jazz

Ange did an amazing job dressing up as the Lady Gaga “Born This Way” skeleton! Jazz dressed up as a scary doll and was truly terrifying! Especially when one of her eyelashes began to fall off towards the end of the night! (I blame it entirely on dancing vigorously to Thriller and Monster Mash – Jazz)Image

Jazz, Niamh, Susan

Here’s a picture of the two other terrrrifying dolls that she did the makeup for on the night! Love you guys!

We here at Angeallthatjazz can not WAIT for Halloween next year and plan on having a fancy dress night again really soon! But first we will be dressing up as sexy santas for Christmas!

Bring on the Christmas season!

Ange and Jazz

I’m a rockabilly!

As promised to the lovely Annette over at <;;>; here is my first outfit of this Halloween!

The background story to this is basically that we were having a house party and NONE of my friends wanted to dress up. I really wanted to dress up but didn’t want to look like an idiot so I decided to wear clothes that I’ve never put together before and do my hair and makeup Rockabilly style! My top is a bralet from Penneys and a polka dot pencil skirt from River Island and my blue shoes are also from Penneys!

Here is a close up of my makeup on the night and if you take a look at my most recent beauty post you can see everything that I used to achieve the look here >> <<

The eyelashes are Cheryl Cole lashes by eyelure…

Basically I LOVED wearing this look and everybody told me how amazing I looked as a rockabilly so I might just start rocking the rockabilly more often!

Moi and my lovely friend Grainne at the party… Who didn’t come as a leopard, funny enough!

Forgive us beautiful bloggers, for we have sinned…

…It has been faaaaaarr too long since our last post! To make up for the lack of beauty reviews TODAY I am gonna show you everything I have in my personal make-up bag that I use on an every-day basis. These are the products that I believe are the BEST on the market (for my skin) and help me achieve flawless skin every day!

My make-up bag contents in their entirety!

MAC Strobe cream

Ok, so first up is my primer! Primer is something that a lot of ladies leave out of their makeup routine, but it is honestly something that your skin needs to give your foundation a smooth, flawless finish. There are many out there for all skin-types, but this is the primer I use on almost every client, except those with very oily skin. Mac Strobe Cream, also comes in a strobe liquid, but I get much more use from this, as it is slightly thicker and so I just use less product. A trick I like to use is to mix the strobe cream with my preferred foundation in the lid or on the back of my hand to provide an irredescent, fresh, vibrant foundation!

The reason I love this product is because the irridescent pigments (you can see a pinky blue tone in the light) produce a soft, radiant light on the skin, which reduces the appearance of skin imperfections by providing a natural-looking glow. It feels refreshing and it leaves the skin looking healthier and more radiant. Another tip I like to use is I rub it on my collarbone as a highlighter and up the middle of my shins to give a beautiful natural sheen to my legs on a night out. It really looks fabulous over a tan and on your collarbones as a highlighter too!
MAC Studio-fix fluid
I love this foundation so much and I use it on basically every client that I make over! It suits combination skin (which most of us are) perfectly, but mixed with the right primer it can even suit dry skin. It is oil free and the coverage is medium – buildable. I find the coverage excellent and I very rarely use concealer, unless I have particularly bad bags or blemishes. It comes in a great range of shades, but always make sure you get a colour match done by someone you trust! DON’T forget (especially if you have oily or combination skin) you will still need a loose powder to set your foundation and ensure it lasts!

You all know from my very first post that my Laura Mercier Translucent Powder is the one I can NOT live without!
You can view that entry… >> << HERE!

NARS “Orgasm” blusher
Well as you can see, I truly make sure I get the most out of my favourite blusher! When I started my make-up course in LA Make-Up Academy five years ago they gave us a list of the top ten make-up essentials for any make-up artist and of course, this blusher was on it. It is the one blusher that I can honestly say suits absolutely everybody, regardless of age, skin tone or skin type. It is a peachy pink with a SLIGHT golden shimmer that brightens up any complexion, providing you with a warm glow. The pigmentation is excellent and it is really easy to blend and lasts ages! Perfect!
Urban Decay Baked Bronzer “Toasted”
I love this bronzer because it’s somewhere in between a shimmer and a matte. I have enough gold shimmer with my “Orgasm” blusher, so this “Toasted” shade by Urban Decay is great for me. I have fair skin and the pigmentation is good, but a light sweep warms my complexion perfect AND when I’m wearing fake tan the bronzer is buildable and provides me with a nice warmth either way! I usually use it to contour, and to prevent any dangerous double chin mishaps in photographs!

3 colour eyebrow palette

I bought this BRILLIANT eyebrow kit at a Professional Beauty Show in the RDS recently. It includes tweezers, wax, razor, brushes, stencils and all the other tools you need to achieve perfect eyebrows! The colours in this kit work on basically everybody, my eyebrows are REALLY dark so I tend to mix the dark brown with a TIIIIINY bit of the brown, using my angled brush. The colours are also great for doing a bit of a smokey matte brown eye!

Next up, of course I mattify my eyelids with my other makeup essential, Urban Decay’s eyeshadow primer potion! Read the review >> << HERE!

I have run out of it at the moment and I am back to using Laura Mercier’s eyeshadow primer, which I don’t really rate, but it is better than nothing! You can see it in the very first picture!
I carry around one little four shadow palette by MAC for all my eyeshadow and highlighting needs!
Top left is Carbon by MAC, Top right is Shroom by MAC,
Bottom Left is Sweet Lust by MAC, Bottom right is Brun by MAC
Sweet Lust
These are all MAC, so you know the pigment is great! I love “Shroom” on the cheekbones and brow bone, whereas I love “Sweet Lust” on my cupids bow and on the inside of my eyes. They are both great highlighters! “Brun” and “Carbon” are my two favourite colours to use for my smokey eyes!
Inglot eyeliner gel “77”
Ok, so I’ve tried out EVERY gel liner on the market and I don’t have a FAVOURITE, they all do the same job, whether it’s MAC, Bobbi Brown or Essence… I get 20% off in Inglot and I’m slowly buying more Inglot shadows than MAC shadows and I also love their lipliners. I decided I’d try their matte black gel liner and I love it. The consistency is perfect, it’s blackest black and it washes off my brush easier than some others. We’ll see how it goes as it begins to dry out. So far, so good.

Mac eye-kohl “Smoulder”, Make-Up Forever Khol Pencil “white”, Inglot lip pencil “RED”, MAC lip pencil “Spice”
These are the only four pencils I use in my own make-up bag!
I use “Smoulder” on my waterline and it melts perfectly, I also use it for an ultra-smokey eye all over the lid!
I love using the white eyeliner on my water line with a 50’s flick, it really opens up the eyes and helps you look bright-eyed and bushy tailed!
“Spice” is a gorgeous pink-brown shade which looks really deep on, it’s a very sophisticated look!
The red by Inglot is brilliant, it’s so creamy and the brush on the end is SUPER handy! I tend to colour in my whole lip with the liner and smooth is out with the brush for a red lip that lasts ALL day and is lovely and matte!

Angled brush by CROWN,pencil brush by BEAUTY STROKES, blending brush by CROWN, eyeshadow brush by FACE2, foundation brush by MAC, blusher brush by FACE2
Obviously I have HUNDREDS of brushes but for every day on myself these are all I use! As with everything all brands have their star products, brushes are no different. However, my favourite brush brands are CROWN BRUSHES This brand is great for cheap brushes, brilliant for makeup artists or someone who just wants to get a really good set. I also love The Body Shop brushes, as they are synthetic and cruelty-free, but I use them on my clients more-so as they are easier to clean.
And there you have my very interesting make-up bag!
If you have any questions on any of the products or anything else, just leave me a message! Thanks for reading guys!

Another make-up MUST have!

Staying on the topic of my must-have products, this is an essential for anybody who loves makeup and of course, eyeshadow! My favourite products are usually products that I can NOT do a makeover without using, regardless of who the client is – to make sure I provide them with makeup that I know will last all day and all night!

A common complaint that I get regularly is that your eye makeup runs or that eyeshadow doesn’t last all day or all night and gathers in the crease, which is not the look anybody wants to go for and it can make your eyes look saggy, which is NOT a good look!

I used to use Laura Mercier’s eyeshadow primer, which is very good, but I can not recommend Urban Decay’s Primer Potion highly enough. I have very oily skin, and my eye makeup would never last even a few hours on a hardcore dancing night out! However, when I started working on the Urban Decay counter, I started using their primer potion under my eyeshadow and I kid you not, one morning (after a rough night before) I woke up to find my full eyeshadow still intact. Not that I encourage leaving your makeup on all night, in fact for people with oily skin this is a very bad idea! I now keep a cream cleanser and toner by my bed and USUALLY manage to muster the energy to do a bit of a cleanse before conking out after a long day and an even longer night! However, since that fateful night, I would never apply eyeshadow without the Primer Potion as my base.

Not only does it make your eyeshadow last all day, it also creates a base that will leave your colours more vibrant and prevents fallout as eyeshadow sticks to it, rather than falling off the brush.

*TIP* Never rub the primer into your eyelids with your fingers! The point is to reduce the amount of oil on your eyelids and by rubbing in with your fingers, you are introducing an oil, so always blend in with an eyeshadow brush before applying your eyeshadow!

Urban Decay recently brought out the Primer Potion in the shade of their most popular colour “Sin”, which is a nude pink shimmer, I got it and wasn’t impressed with the consistency, it is pretty sticky, but easy to slick on if you’re on the go. They’ve also recently released two other colours, “Eden” and “Greed”, which I haven’t tried but I will let you know! And here’s another tip, I used “Sin” on my cheekbones, as a highlighter similar to high beam for a gorgeous glow! Hope this helps you ladies!

The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream Review

The lovely folk at The Body Shop Ireland gave me a sneak peek at their new All-In-One Make-Up range, which they are launching August 30th. This includes a new range of colours in the amazing Face Base Range, as well as new concealers and blushers, but most importantly their brand new BB Cream.

For those of you who still aren’t sure what exactly a BB cream is, it stands for “Blemish Balm”, although due to copyright reasons it is also widely known as a “Beauty Balm” – this is due to its “multi-tasking” all-in-one properties – moisturiser, primer, foundation and sunblock. It has been a huge part of the Asian cosmetics market for years, and is gradually making it’s way over to the Western market!

Before I introduce you to The Body Shop BB Cream, have a read of what they have to say about it!

“Meet our new All-In-One BB Cream… and prepare to be transformed!
Introducing All-In-One BB Cream, the star of our All-In-One Make-Up range. A masterpiece of make-up and skincare, All-In-One BB Cream possessed a lightweight formula that provides 24hr hydration and colour-adapts for a perfect match and a smooth, undetectable finish It’s make-up and skincare in one!

The secret? Our innovative formula features pigment filled capsules that burst when applied to skin, releasing the colour inside. Just blend one of our three shades for a perfect match to your exact skin tone. With light, medium and dark skintones, you’re guaranteed to find an All-In-One BB Cream that suits you”.

So there you have it! Sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? Well I can honestly say after trying it that it totally lives up to everything it claims to be! I’ve never really been sold on a product that claims it can colour adapt to your skin, so imagine my surprise when I squeezed it on to the back of my hand and the product came out white!
As I rubbed the cream in to my hand the colour changed quickly, as it turns out “the innovative formula”, in fact features pigment filled capsules that burst when applied to the skin, releasing the colour inside. How clever is that?

The product comes in numbers 1,2 and 3 and I tested the number 2 on the back of my hand, as well as applying it to my whole face. The skin on my hand is obviously darker than on my face, but the colour adapted perfectly to the colour of my hand AND perfectly to the colour of my face. I actually can’t get over how clever this product is!
And so, before my very eyes I could see the colour eventually changing until I was left with a perfect match to the skin tone of my hand, and I would also like to point out that the coverage is absolutely excellent, as you can see in the picture below.
So those are the swatches on my hand, though I’m sure you’re all wondering how it looked on my face!

I have very oily skin and I cleansed and toned before applying the BB Cream, you don’t need to apply moisturiser or primer before the BB Cream, as it is all in one, and it really did look amazing on my skin. The coverage is medium, so you could apply a concealer to any areas of redness or blemishes before you put it on and be left with a pretty good coverage for the day. However, as I said, I have oily skin and I rave about the benefits of a translucent powder, so I did apply my translucent powder around half an hour after applying the BB Cream to prevent shine, and honestly I loved how it made my skin look and feel. It also lasted all day long. The ONLY complaint I have about the new BB cream is the lack of SPF. But hopefully The Body Shop will look in to this for future reference.
I am definitely going to purchase the no.2 BB Cream on Thursday, as I had been searching high and low for a product I liked that was less high maintenance and more natural than my current foundation (MAC studio fix) for every day wear. The Body Shop BB cream satisfies this perfectly!

Have any of you tried a BB Cream that you really like? Any recommendations?

My FAVOURITE make-up must-have

I’m sure you were all hoping for some make-up revelation, new product on the market, etc, etc. and they are all to come, but I feel I MUST do my first beauty blog on the item in my make-up kit that I can NOT live without (aside from foundation and mascara, obviously!)

Translucent powder, ladies, if you don’t already own it and wonder why your make-up doesn’t last past lunch-time, it is because your foundation doesn’t have the lasting powder… (Geddit, power/powder?) Ooohhh… Let me explain!

In all my years working as a makeup artist one of the questions I get asked most is “How do I make my makeup last all day?” There are plenty of foundations out there that claim to last all day but in Ireland, the most common skintype is combination, the majority of us Irish ladies have an oily T-zone. Unfortunately, this makes your makeup slide off or can leave you looking shiny by mid-day. The ONLY way to prevent this is to use a translucent powder.

Translucent powder sets your foundation, creates a lovely base for your blusher and bronzer and will keep you looking shine free much longer and also prevent makeup coming off on your clothes! I prefer loose powders, as I find many compacts can cake on the skin. This is because you are putting your brush or puff on top of the pressed powder, onto the oil on your face and back into the pressed powder again, which causes an oily film to gather on your pressed powder, which completely defeats the purpose of powdering for a longer lasting matte finish! Another problem with coloured pressed powders is that you may still find that a lot of make-up comes off if you are trying on different clothes, or you blow your nose, or you lay your head on your boyfriends shoulder -EMBARASSING! If you use a translucent powder, you will notice this happens much less or hopefully not at all!

My favourite translucent powder is by Laura Mercier and is simply called “Loose setting powder”, it suits all skin-types and it comes in one shade only, as translucent powder has no pigment at all and doesn’t alter the shade of your foundation. Perfect. At €43 from Brown Thomas, it is very pricey, however I had to go ONE WEEK without it recently and I was topping up my make-up every half hour to keep the shine at bay, whereas I rarely have to do it when I have my Laura Mercier on! And don’t get me started on the finish of my make-up without using it…

Does anyone else have a favourite translucent powder?
